Occupational Medicine ClinicWork environments—office, industrial, or agricultural—can affect your health. Dust, asbestos, noise, radiation, and chemicals can cause physical symptoms that require medical attention. Staff members in The University of Iowa Occupational Medicine Clinic understand the relationship between work-related exposures and health. The clinic provides diagnostic testing services and expert tertiary care for patients with work-related health problems. Physicians certified in occupational medicine, internal medicine, preventive medicine, and pulmonary medicine are available to evaluate and treat symptoms resulting from occupational environments. Social workers and industrial hygienists also provide care and education through evaluations of work environments, and advice on prevention techniques. Anyone with proven or suspected work-related health problems may be served in the UIHC Occupational Medicine Clinic. Patient appointments are received both by self-referral and referral by physicians, employers or attorneys. Services
